Job description (chief technology officer)
This is a part-time position. 20 – 40 hours a month We are a large established B-to-B media company that is quickly growing into the tech space, and seeking an experienced Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to join us in this mission The position will involve building out new platforms, overseeing the effectiveness of technology resources, leading other executives and staff, performing research on new technologies that could enhance the business and monitoring the use and implementation of new and existing technologies across departments. What you do
• Lead technology team who are responsible for all online products that serve our registered users and visitors.
Oversee Mobile and Web
API & Backend, SRE/DevOps, Machine Learning, Data Engineering, Content Ingestion, as well as Quality Assurance and Program Management.
• Direct the efforts to take a metrics-first approach, measure effectiveness, and drive decisions based on results and data.
• Manage a successful Agile implementation throughout the entire company resulting in greater efficiencies.
• Evaluate the company products, engineering, and technology roadmaps. Develop technical aspects of the company’s strategy to ensure alignment with business goals and broader technology strategy
• Manage system infrastructure to ensure functionality and efficiency.
• Research any new technologies that may potentially increase our company’s competitive advantage • Translate the strategy into goals and an actionable roadmap. Expand, support, and mentor team of developers and engineers.
• Represent the technology team by communicating direction and data-driven insights to leadership peers, customers, and partners
• Analyze operations to evaluate performance of the company and staff in meeting objectives or to determine areas of potential cost reduction, program improvement, or policy change • Direct activities of businesses or departments concerned with pricing, sales, or distribution of products. What you have
• 10+ years of progressive experience in technology leadership, software engineering and architecture, including full stack development • Strong experience working with and presenting to leadership.
• Excellent understanding of cloud computing technologies, highly reliable and available large scale distributed systems
• Experience leading and motivating software engineering teams and managing complex software projects
• Outstanding communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with remote teams of engineers, as well as with customers • MBA or other relevant graduate degree
• Knowledge of digital media and advertising is a plus
Qualifications
10+ years of progressive experience in technology leadership, software engineering and architecture, including full stack development
Strong experience working with and presenting to leadership
Excellent understanding of cloud computing technologies, highly reliable and available large scale distributed systems
Experience leading and motivating software engineering teams and managing complex software projects
Outstanding communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with remote teams of engineers, as well as with customers
MBA or other relevant graduate degree
